Intro to Patterns | 3rd August

10-3pm, Saturday 3rd August

This short course is an excellent way to start learning the infinite possibilities that are achievable when can adjust, manipulate and re-work commercial patterns

On this one day course we will cover how to adjust a commercial pattern to your size, sew up a toile (mock up in calico) and fit the toile to you. Adjusting can including grading up to enlarge a pattern or vintage pattern, making a pattern longer or shorter, learning how to make Front Bust Adjustments… there are a myriad of techniques available to us to create perfectly fitting garments! After this we will transfer any adjustments from toile to pattern for future use. Finally we will quickly cover re-designing a pattern, for example, adding in details like collars and pockets.

Patterns will be available to use however; I do suggest you bring along a pattern you would like to use.

All Toile materials will be provided in the cost of the course, as well as a workbook with instructions and places to keep your notes for future reference.  Machines, tools and general sewing equipment are available too.

Tea and cake at the half way point are provided as well, and it is a good chance to peruse the collection of books, patterns and small shop of lovely things.

All classes will be held in my lovely home studio in Downend, Bristol. Full details will be given once you are booked.
