Corsetry | 14th & 15th September

Corsetry | 14th & 15th September

10-5pm, 13th and 14th September

Be initiated in to the dark art of Corsetry on this two day course!

We shall be covering materials, cutting, sewing up and fitting including inserting the busk and boning channels along with finishing details such as eyeleting, handmade bias binding and flossing.

You can choose from two Corset Patterns, a modern Waspie or a corset with Victorian lines. Construction techniques are similar for both but the finished shape can be quite different. The Waspie is a great place to start if you are a true beginner.

You will need to bring 1 meter of top fabric for your Corset. I suggest a Silk Dupion, Duchess Satin, Taffeta or similar. There will also be fabrics available to use on the day just in case.

All materials will be provided in the cost of the course, as well as a workbook with instructions and places to keep your notes and samples for future reference.  Machines, tools and general sewing equipment are available too however; you are more than welcome to bring along your own machine.

Tea and cake at the half way point are provided as well, and it is a good chance to peruse the collection of books, patterns and small shop of lovely things.

All classes will be held in my lovely home studio in Downend, Bristol. Full details will be given once you are booked.
